Useful video, but I need more practice with past hypotheticals in Norwegian. Next time can you ask them how they would have felt if they hadn't eaten breakfast?

Thanks for this lession! I lived in Billingstad as a child for a little over a year and learned to count. Wondered if I'd forgotten any as hoping to go back next year. I remembered all, with the exception of 14. Ha, strange. But not bad after over 40 years :-)

As a Greek, let me tell you how warm, weird and welcoming we are: Taxi drivers You wave at a cab and you enter (assuming you travel alone) Taxi driver: Ela, where you from, boy? You: (Enter name here: Athens, Crete, Italy, America) Taxi driver: You married? (tricky question... gay men beware) You: Yes. Taxi driver: Kids? You: Yes/no (If you answer no, the response will be: Come on, it's about time! .. or something within these lines).. but if you said yes, he'll probably ask for their names *After a moment of silence* Taxi driver: The wife of yours.. is she any pretty? *grins* You dawg. ************ Long story short, I've witnessed a conversation where the taxi driver went for so long, he was asking for a picture of my wife (I'm gay, I had to lie) --> which brings me to the previous topic....If you say you are unmarried, the next question would most likely be: Why the hell not? You are not a fag, are you? :D So this is small talk in Greece. Now tell me if we are warm or cold. Cheers.

The supposed "superficial " friendliness that europeans love to criticize us on is meant as friendly banter and ice breakers. We ourselves understand that it is meaningless, but communicate th is way in order to initiate conversation with strangers in a polite manner.
